Biography

Deb grew up in Dublin, Ireland and began building her record collection at an early age, with a particular fascination for obscure and leftfield sounds across all genres, from folk and psych to electronica to jazz and hip-hop. She started DJing when she was just 15 and since then her career has been a consistent pursuit of exciting opportunities to share her favourite records with a crowd, whether they’re gathered around their radios or revelling at festivals like Green Man, Boomtown and All Points East. She currently hosts the New Music Fix Daily show on BBC Radio 6Music alongside Nathan Shepherd, hunting down and spinning the freshest and most innovative new releases every Monday to Thursday evening.

Alongside her DJing and radio work, Deb has been part of the judging committee for the Choice Music Prize, hosted podcasts, presented the BBC’s Mercury Prize and televised Glastonbury coverage and compered many industry panels and events for the likes of Ireland Music Week, BIGSOUND Australia, The Times Literature Festival and more. She also writes a regular music column in the Big Issue, covering experimental and offbeat reissues and new releases. Deb is now based in Manchester and she is currently working on her first book.
